Born in London 2nd August 1955 J.C. (as he is known to one and all) has unique experience in the field of crowd safety planning and event management. As Projects Manager for a major stewarding company he was involved for eighteen years in the planning and operation of events around the world from Live Aid to the concert to mark the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In 1991 he accepted as position in the company Training Wing with a brief to develop the staff training programme from entry level Steward to Crowd Manager as an instructor qualified to Security Industry Training Organisation standard Level II he was instrumental in the development of a Crowd Management Training Course for police officers (now in its ninth successful year) and he pioneered acceptance of a Door Supervisor course by local authorities throughout the UK. He has personally trained over two thousand Door Supervisors within the scheme.

Jon was Controller when many of the greatest rock acts paid tribute to Freddie Mercury in front of 70,000 fans and a world wide T.V. audience at Wembley Stadium in 1992.

In February 2000 he joined the Special Projects Team where he continued his interest in venue safety and risk analysis. This included documentation of a risk analysis for the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and full review of match day operation, staff re-training and acting as Deputy Safety Officer at Portsmouth Football Club for the 2001 season.

Operationally Jon's projects have included Emergency Liaison Officer for large crowd events in Royal Parks such as the VE / VJ Day celebrations in 1995, Proms in the Park and the funeral of Diana Princess of Wales. He was one of a team of four specialists who managed the four 120,000 capacity concerts in Brunei which featured Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Seal and Whitney Houston. These events were to mark the 50th birthday of the Sultan and the subsequent wedding of his daughter.

In June & July 2000 he acted as Head of Civilian Security for the Royal Military Tattoo at Horse Guards Parade working closely with the organisers and the Ministry of Defence, Metropolitan Police, Royal Parks Police, Buckingham Palace, Westminster Council, Downing Street, the Cabinet Office and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
From planning and risk analysis to the final spectacular show days the events culminated in the celebrations to mark the 100th birthday of HM Queen Mother and were attended by all members of the immediate British Royal Family.

Immediately following the R.M.T. 2000 Jon acted as Deputy Safety Officer for the "Glorious" Goodwood Festival meeting at the beginning of August.

Since June 2001 Jon has been operating as an independent consultant. He maintains his links with the industry by acting as Planner, Safety Officer or Crowd Manager at many diverse events. He was retained by Channel Four in 2001 for the "Ashes" cricket tour and acted as controller for three of the larger concerts in the Stereophonics tour. He acted as "advance " security for the UK leg of the Oasis tour including three 40,000 capacity shows at Finsbury Park and two 50,000 sold out shows for the homecoming in Manchester.

Jon is currently in his fourth season as Safety Officer at Huntingdon Racecourse home of the Mascot Grand National
J.C.'s relationship with the International Live Music Conference goes back to the early 90s when he first acted as Head of Security for the event.
At time of writing (January 2003) JC has been retained again by English Heritage to organise the safety and stewarding for their successful series of summer concerts.
